Specialized in What Actually Makes Websites Fast

While full-service agencies treat performance as a side project, it is our core business. From our location in Lower Saxony, we optimize load times, Core Web Vitals and server architectures for companies across Germany and Europe.

Web performance is not a feature you add at the end of a project. It is a discipline that requires deep technical understanding, continuous education and years of practical experience. We have specialized in exactly this discipline: the systematic analysis and optimization of load times, Core Web Vitals, server configurations and frontend architectures. Across 50+ projects, we have learned which measures deliver the greatest impact, which mistakes occur most frequently and how to secure performance improvements long-term.

Why Specialization in Performance Makes the Difference

Performance optimization differs fundamentally from other web development disciplines. Knowing the right tools is not enough. You must understand how browsers prioritize resources, how databases react under load, how caching layers interact and why a seemingly harmless third-party tag can block an entire page's interactivity. This knowledge does not come from occasional Lighthouse tests but from intensive, recurring engagement with performance problems across different platforms, architectures and industries.

Full-service agencies often offer performance optimization as an add-on service, carried out by developers simultaneously working on design, content and functionality. In practice, this leads to performance measures being implemented as an afterthought, half-heartedly executed under time pressure, or neglected after go-live. Our specialization means: every project has performance as its primary goal, not a side effect. Every architectural decision is evaluated from a load time perspective. Every measurement follows a proven methodology that ensures comparability and reproducibility.

According to a study by Portent (2022), conversion rates increase by an average of 17 percent per second of faster load time within the first five seconds. Google has used Core Web Vitals as a ranking signal since 2021. These figures make clear: performance is not a technical side matter but a business-critical factor that deserves specialized expertise.

Our experience confirms this in practice: in the projects we have managed, performance optimization led not only to better Lighthouse scores but to measurable business improvements. Faster load times reduced bounce rates, improved search engine visibility and increased time on page across optimized sites. Specialization enables us to recognize these connections early and target optimization measures precisely at the business-relevant metrics.

Our Technical Expertise

Our competence spans all layers relevant to fast websites. From infrastructure through the application layer to browser rendering: we understand the entire delivery path of a web page and can identify and eliminate bottlenecks at every level.

Server Administration

Linux server configuration, nginx and Apache tuning, PHP-FPM sizing, OPcache optimization and SSL/TLS configuration. Experience with dedicated servers, managed hosting and cloud infrastructure.

Database Optimization

MariaDB and MySQL performance tuning, slow query analysis, index strategies, partitioning of large tables and InnoDB buffer pool sizing. Redis and Elasticsearch as cache and search layers.

Frontend Development

Critical CSS, code splitting, tree shaking, lazy loading, responsive image delivery, web workers and modern build pipelines. Deep understanding of the browser rendering process and Core Web Vitals.

Performance Measurement

Lighthouse, WebPageTest, Chrome DevTools performance profiling, Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX) and real-user monitoring. Synthetic and field data for meaningful analyses.

CDN and Caching

Content delivery network configuration, edge caching, browser cache strategies, Varnish reverse proxy, cache invalidation and cache tagging for dynamic content.

Web Security

Security headers (CSP, HSTS, X-Frame-Options), TLS best practices, DDoS mitigation and performance-safe implementation of privacy requirements (consent management, GDPR).

Our Methodology: Data-Driven and Reproducible

Performance optimization without reliable measurement data is guesswork. Our methodology is based on the principle: measure, implement measure, measure again, validate. Each optimization is implemented and quantified individually so that the contribution of each measure to the overall result is traceable. We have refined this approach across 50+ projects.

Tools and Technologies We Use

Choosing the right tools is decisive for the quality of a performance analysis. We rely on a combination of established open-source tools and commercial solutions that together provide a complete picture of the performance situation. No single tool covers all aspects of performance measurement: Lighthouse delivers synthetic lab data, the Chrome User Experience Report provides real field data, and server-side profilers reveal backend bottlenecks that browser-based tools cannot capture. Only the combination of all perspectives enables a complete diagnosis.

Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights

Google's primary audit tool for performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO. We use both the CLI version for reproducible tests and the API for automated monitoring pipelines.

WebPageTest

Detailed waterfall analyses, filmstrip comparisons and multi-location tests. Particularly valuable for identifying render-blocking resources and analyzing the critical rendering path.

Chrome DevTools

Performance profiling, coverage analysis, network throttling and main thread analysis. The most important tool for identifying long tasks, layout thrashing and JavaScript bottlenecks.

Server Profiling

Blackfire and comparable PHP profilers for server-side analysis. Identification of slow functions, inefficient database queries and memory-intensive operations at the code level.

Load Testing (k6, Locust)

Simulation of realistic load scenarios with configurable user profiles. Identification of capacity limits and scaling behavior under controlled stress.

Real-User Monitoring and CrUX

Chrome User Experience Report for real field data and custom RUM solutions for project-specific monitoring. The combination of lab and field data delivers the most complete performance picture.

Platform-Independent: We Optimize Every Stack

Our experience spans a broad range of technology stacks. We do not optimize just one platform but understand the performance characteristics of various systems and can derive the right measures for each architecture.

In e-commerce, we have extensive experience with Shopware and WordPress-Shop on WordPress. For corporate websites, we work with WordPress, TYPO3 and custom CMS solutions. In the area of modern web applications, we optimize SvelteKit, Next.js, Nuxt and other JavaScript frameworks. We have also optimized custom PHP applications, Laravel-based SaaS platforms and static site generators. The methodology remains the same across platforms while concrete measures are adapted to each architecture. Detailed information about our analysis methodology can be found on the analysis page.

Continuous Education and Benchmarking Culture

Web performance is a field that constantly evolves. New browser APIs, changed ranking signals, updated Core Web Vitals thresholds and new compression formats require continuous education. We invest systematically in our knowledge so that our clients benefit from the latest optimization strategies.

  • Core Web Vitals evolution: Google regularly updates CWV metrics. We integrated the switch from FID to INP (Interaction to Next Paint) in March 2024 into our methodology early and proactively informed our clients
  • New image formats and APIs: AVIF support, the fetchpriority attribute, container queries and the Speculation Rules API flow into our project work promptly once browser support is sufficient
  • HTTP/3 and QUIC: The next generation of the HTTP protocol reduces connection setup times and improves performance on unstable networks. We evaluate server support and configure HTTP/3 in our projects
  • Internal benchmarks: We maintain an internal database of performance metrics from all projects. These benchmarks enable realistic target values for new projects and make our recommendations evidence-based
  • Community and research: Active tracking of web.dev publications, Chrome Developer Blog posts and HTTP Archive reports to identify trends and best practices early

Rooted in Lower Saxony, Active Across Europe

Our location is in Lower Saxony, a region defined by mid-sized enterprises. Many of these companies operate websites and online shops whose performance has been neglected over the years because the focus was on functionality and design. We understand the challenges of the German Mittelstand and speak the same language, both technically and figuratively.

At the same time, we work with companies across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other European countries. Performance optimization is a discipline that works regardless of location: our analysis tools measure worldwide, our recommendations are platform-independent, and implementation follows structured project processes with regular check-ins. For kick-off meetings and workshops, we are happy to visit you in person regardless of location.

Our regional roots are also reflected in our working style: we cultivate long-term client relationships built on trust and transparent communication. Our clients know who analyzes their website, who implements the measures and whom to contact with questions. This continuity is particularly valuable in the performance field because every optimization builds on a deep understanding of the respective infrastructure, codebase and business processes. A rotating contact person who needs to familiarize themselves with every new request cannot develop this depth of knowledge.

What Drives Us as a Team

Behind every optimization stands a clear conviction: fast websites are better websites. They offer better user experience, rank higher in search engines, convert better and consume less energy. Performance optimization is therefore not just a technical topic but also an economic and ecological one.

Measurability as Core Principle

We work exclusively with measurable metrics. No vague promises, no subjective assessments. Every measure is quantified before and after so that success is traceable for you at all times.

Honest Consultation

If a measure would not deliver significant impact in your specific case, we communicate that openly. We only recommend optimizations that deliver demonstrable value, even if that means a smaller project scope for us.

Long-Term Thinking

One-time optimizations lose their value if performance is not actively protected. That is why we establish foundations for sustainable performance in every project: monitoring systems, coding guidelines and processes that prevent regressions.

Continuous Development

Web performance is a dynamic field. New browser APIs, changed ranking signals and updated best practices require continuous education. We invest in our knowledge so that our clients benefit.

Collaboration Models

Depending on your requirements and team structure, we offer various forms of collaboration. Whether a one-time audit, project-based optimization or ongoing support: we adapt the scope to your situation.

Why Clients Work With Us

Across 50+ projects, we have identified recurring reasons why companies choose specialized performance support rather than covering the topic internally or through their existing agency.

  • The existing website was built by an agency that did not prioritize performance, and the Lighthouse score is below 50
  • Google Search Console reports failing Core Web Vitals, and organic visibility is measurably declining
  • The online shop becomes unstable during promotional campaigns or seasonal peaks, delivering timeout errors
  • Internal developers are experienced in functionality and design but have little experience with server optimization and caching strategies
  • A relaunch is upcoming, and performance should be considered from the start rather than retrofitted afterward
  • The conversion rate stagnates despite SEO efforts, and slow load times are suspected as a possible cause

Sustainability and Performance

Fast websites are not only better for user experience and search engine ranking, they also consume less energy. Every reduction in page weight, every saved database query and every avoided HTTP request lowers energy consumption on both server and client side. A server that executes only 25 database queries per page view instead of 200 thanks to caching uses less computing power and therefore less electricity. An image that shrinks from 2 megabytes to 400 kilobytes through WebP conversion reduces the data transferred by 80 percent. According to an analysis by the Shift Project (2019), the internet accounts for approximately 3.7 percent of global CO2 emissions, comparable to aviation. Every performance optimization is thus also a small contribution to reducing the digital footprint.

In our projects, we reduce average page weight by 60 to 80 percent (project experience), lower the number of HTTP requests by 40 to 60 percent and significantly decrease server load through efficient caching. These measures mean less data transfer, less computing power and thus less energy consumption, multiplied by every single page view across thousands or millions of visitors. Performance optimization and sustainability go hand in hand. You can find an overview of all optimization areas on our services page.
