bfcache

Abbreviation for back/forward cache

In short and in plain language

The bfcache is a store in the browser. It keeps a page you have just left.

When you go back, the page is there again. It does not have to load again and shows the same spot.

The browser cannot keep some pages there. One reason is a connection that is still open when you leave.

Definition
The bfcache is a browser store that keeps a page you have just left completely in memory. When you go back or forward, the page then reappears at the same spot without loading again. Some properties of a page, such as open connections when leaving, can prevent the browser from storing it there.
