endpoint

In short and in plain language

An endpoint is a fixed address on a server.

A program sends a question there and gets an answer. Shops use this for search hints, for example.

If the endpoint answers slowly, the page also reacts slowly.

Definition
An endpoint is a fixed address on a server to which a program sends requests and from which it receives a response. Shops and websites use endpoints for search suggestions, the cart or measurement data, for example. How fast an endpoint responds can strongly affect how quickly a page reacts.
