URI
Abbreviation for Uniform Resource Identifier
Definition
A URI is a uniform identifier for a resource, such as a web address or embedded data. A special form is the data URI, which embeds small files directly in HTML or CSS. This saves requests but enlarges the embedding file, which cannot then be cached separately.
