In our project work, websites could as a rule be noticeably accelerated, though the room to manoeuvre varies greatly with the starting point. A WordPress site with uncompressed images, a bloated page builder and blocking JavaScript can often be sped up considerably, because many obvious brakes are at work here.
An already partially optimized web application or a cleanly built shop benefits more from targeted fine-tuning, for example on TTFB, hydration strategy or third-party script management.
